In case you weren’t able to figure it out from our Rails Rumble 08 entry, we’re not really designers 
. In fact, one of our lowest scores at the moment is in appearance. That said, we’ll be improving http://greatminds.kickasslabs.com while our entry remains in stasis.
Returning to the point, I feel somewhat responsible for the design…or lack thereof…for our entry. Instead of tossing a pity party though, I’ve been trying to improve my skills as a designer. I figure my desire can only be realized in a 2-fold attack:
- Learn more about color theory

Welcome to Kickass Labs! If you’re here right now, you’re probably visiting from our Rails Rumble effort, Great Minds (which is a cool game that you should really take a minute to try out).
Like the cobbler who had no shoes, the Kickass Labs crew has been too busy working on actual projects to make much of a website for ourselves. In lieu of that, though, we invite you to check out some of our other web joints:
- Advice From The Future is a site where you can share all the things you wish you knew back in the day.
- GuitarCardio generates custom guitar fingering exercises based on your skill level.
- Rewardist lets you choose rewards for good habits you want to form, and helps you track your progress. (Warning: Very, very broken in IE.)
That’s it for now, though there are more websites and at least one Rails plugin in the works, as well as blog posts detailing lessons from our Rails Rumble experience.
